QR (Quick Response) codes are two-dimensional barcodes that store data like URLs, text, contact information, or WiFi credentials. They were invented by Denso Wave in 1994 and are now used globally for payments, authentication, marketing, and logistics.
QR codes use Reed-Solomon error correction, allowing them to remain scannable even when partially damaged. Level L recovers 7% of data, M recovers 15%, Q recovers 25%, and H recovers 30%. Higher correction levels make larger QR codes but are more resilient.
